Be holy, for God is holy
But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: 'Be holy, because I am holy. 1 PETER 1:15-16 How many times have you said, “I want to be holy, I have tried but it seemed that I can’t get the grip on it.” The Apostle Paul expressed this difficult challenge when he challenged those that are having double mindedness in terms of their obedience to God. “Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living” (Romans 6:16). Slavery to sin is an awful predicament. The reason most believers struggle because of the appeal of sin. The apostle Peter tells the believers to realize who they belong to and having God as their Father requires them to reflect who He is in their lives. You now belong to your Father in heaven once you surrender your life to Christ. You should experience growth in manifesting the character that God wants to develop in you even the life of holiness. Your life should bring glory and honor to God. This could only take place when you grow in your obedience to God. Obedience leads to righteousness as well as holiness (Romans 6:16, 19). Get captivated to the holiness of God. The more you obey God, the more you grow in holiness, thus reflecting who God is. As you continue to devote time in Him and His word, you will indeed show yourself as His follower. “Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31-32).
