Choose to trust God
Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! The Sovereign Lord is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights. Habakkuk 3:17-19
When trials come, how do you respond? Do you run away from problems or do you try to get rid of them as fast as you could? Oftentimes your tendency when confronted with trials in life is to face them focusing all your abilities and energy trying to solve them. Then when you realized after you have exerted all your effort to find solution that your problems are insurmountable, you come to the Lord in prayer. Prayer becomes your last resort that is why after praying you come away thinking that God will not answer and your problem will remain. You are tempted to think that God does not care. From the text, the prophet expressed his resolve that no matter what trials he will be facing he will not give up in hopelessness. Realize that if your heart is filled with hopelessness, it does not come from God. You must accept the fact that without God, you will find it difficult to find answers to your problems. Do not let the notion that you are defenseless in the face of trials because you can always turn to the Lord for help. Take God in His Word and believe His promise that you are not alone facing the trials you have in life. He will be there to sustain you with His strength. Do not doubt His presence. Your father in heaven will not let you walk alone in darkness for He is the father of lights. “Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:16-17). So let Him lead you and let His light guide you. It is your choice; you can be hopeless, fearful, and doubtful or you can choose to trust God when facing trials in life.
Blessings.
