Whether big or small, serve Him wholeheartedly

If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities. And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven? And if you are not faithful with other people’s things, why should you be trusted with things of your own? “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money. Luke 16:10-13 God wants His children to faithfully serve in whatever abilities and capacities they have. It is always a privilege to serve God and it is a way to demonstrate our trustworthiness to obey His call. It is God that enables His children so they could be effective in doing what He told them to do. This is what the Apostle Paul expressed when he was challenging young Timothy about his own desire to serve God. “I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve him” (1 Timothy 1:12). When Paul looked back in his life in the past, there are valid reasons for God not to use Him in His work of expanding His kingdom. He described himself as the “chief of sinners,” a blasphemer, persecutor, and violent aggressor (1 Tim. 1:13-15). Yet when God saved him, everything changed. His sins are forgiven and now He is given the opportunity to serve Him. He had shown how faithful he was in the work God gave Him whether he is doing something big or insignificant. His passionate to all he did in serving the Lord. Because he has proven that he could be trusted to do even the small things for God, he later on became one of the leading disciples in sharing the gospel not only to Jerusalem but to the uttermost parts of the earth. And in everything he did, the glory always belong to the Lord. This is also what he prayed for the believers at Thessalonica. He prayed that they will be eager in serving the Lord and that by serving Him they will realize that they are living out His call for their lives. “To this end also we pray for you always, that our God will count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Thessalonians 1:11-12). Each day that comes, asked Him to help you see where He is at work so you could join Him. Always see the work placed before you by God no matter how big or small, is an opportunity to serve for His kingdom so do it wholeheartedly. “As slaves of Christ, do the will of God with all your heart. Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people” (Ephesians 6:6-7).

Blessings.
