Seeds of righteousness
Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. Honesty guides good people; dishonesty destroys treacherous people. Riches won’t help on the day of judgment, but right living can save you from death. The godly are directed by honesty; the wicked fall beneath their load of sin. The godliness of good people rescues them; the ambition of treacherous people traps them. Proverbs 11:2-6 There are many ways to invest our lives, but none offers greater reward than devoting ourselves to the life that God wants us to have. It is having every area of our lives reflecting the new life that is ours by salvation. It is having our thoughts surrendered to God, so that nothing we think about would be inappropriate for a child of God. It also means that our actions are led by His Spirit. Our lives then becomes a demonstration of what having God preeminence in our lives. We then become eager in giving our lives for His service. This is what the writer of the Book of Proverbs was reminding the readers. Every child of God should not take casually or for granted the righteousness Christ provided for us through His death on the cross. By faith, we receive the new life that God offers. “We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are” (Romans 3:22). Remember that God gave His righteousness to us when we have accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior. So when we live our lives allowing the Holy Spirit to control every area of our life, such action can save [us] from death.” Death is not just an event that will take place at the end of our life here on earth. It includes lack of purpose and meaning in life at present. We should not take lightly God’s admonition for He wants to live out His life in us. This is something we must allow the Holy Spirit to work in our life. Do not allow unholy thoughts linger on our minds. Do not allow lust to go unchecked within. “Let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves” (Galatians 5:16). God planted in us seeds of righteousness. Let us cultivate and let it grow so it could blossom in our life today.
