The God you trust is Faithful

May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion. May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings. May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our banners in the name of our God... Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm. Psalm 20:1-5, 6-8 Times of trials and distresses will show who you trust. If you place your trust aside from God, that becomes your idol. One way you could know if you are trusting God completely is when you turn to Him in moments of crisis. Crisis could be great or small. No matter how big your problems are, you should always be mindful that you can trust God. From our text, David knew that the only place he could turn to when in distress is the throne of God. Jeremiah also expressed the same resolve when others are doing otherwise. Jeremiah stood up for his faith and told the Israelites God’s disappointment to people that turn away from the Lord. “This is what the Lord says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord” (Jeremiah 17:5). Do not be like those that will pay lip service to their trust in God, yet their actions will prove where their faith is focused. The ones that will continue to place their trust in God will be strengthened and their faith will be used by God so that others will be blessed by their testimonies of His goodness. “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit” (Jeremiah 17:7-8). Do not lose sight of your commitment to God. Always place your faith in Him and not to anyone else. By faith trust in His name, hold on to His promises, and believe that you could come out victorious and strong because the one you trust is faithful. The One who called you is reliable. “God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord” (1 Corinthians 1:9).

Blessings.
