His loving protection

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. Psalm 23:4

As David let God lead him as his Shepherd, he realized that his security does not depend on his environment but in his Shepherd. He is confident that God is with him. Even when he goes through what seemed to be endless pit that is filled with darkness, he knows that God is with him. God allows you to go through dark paths so you will learn to trust Him. Once you do, these dark paths will not bring you to a life of discouragement and despair. In those moments of darkness, He allows you to get a glimpse of light so that you will understand that He is there with you. Sheep have difficulty steering in darkness. They have limited vision that when they walk in darkness, they could easily get lost. There are times that you will grapple in darkness because you do not have a clue where God is leading you. Yet in your obedience, the path that seemed to be new to you was the path that God already has been through and he prepared it for you. God will never lead His disciples to roads He had not traveled. God is very much aware of what you will be confronting as you let Him lead your life. He is not only leading you but He is there to walk alongside with you. He promised in His word that He will be close to those who trust Him as their Lord and Shepherd. His rod and staff will provide protection so that you will not get easily persuaded by evil. Undoubtedly, there were times when the sheep wandered away from the Shepherd and gets lost. But the Shepherd is faithful to bring you to the path He wants you to take. Trust His leading and do not wander away from the path He wants you to take.
