God speaks to us
Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. Hebrews 1:1-3
From the text, God spoke in various ways and in various instances. God did this to the fathers in the Old Testament and to the prophets. There have been instances that God spoke audibly to people. He did this to Moses on Mount Sinai. This is where God gave him the two tablets of stone where the commandments were written. There were instances that he spoke in the midst of thunder and trumpets (see Exodus 19). He spoke to Elijah is a still small voice (see 1 Kings 19). He spoke to Joseph through dreams (see Genesis 37). But the way He spoke in the Old Testament is not the same when He spoke in the last days. As Hebrews 1:2 says, “...in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son.” It was through the coming of Jesus that people begin to understand who God is for He is the embodiment of God in the flesh. He is the full and final word of God, though there is much more to be heard from Him. “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God... So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness” (John 1:1, 14). God communicated His love to us through the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. This is what Jesus told His disciples when He was predicting to them how He will redeem the world. “And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself.” He said this to indicate how he was going to die” (John 12:32-33). Be grateful to what He had accomplished for you at the cross by surrendering your life to Him. Worship Him and acknowledge His presence in your life by listening to Him through His word.
Blessings.
