Giving thanks

We, Your people and sheep of Your pasture, will give You thanks forever; We will show forth Your praise to all generations. Psalm 79:13, NKJV

From the text, the Psalmist expressed what should be true for people who experienced a relationship with God. Out of their hearts should flow gratitude for God made them His people. They received forgiveness from their sin and set their path to walk in the newness of life. His righteousness gave you the ability to stand before the Father. When you came to know Christ as your Lord and Savior, God gave you new life. This life from Him gave you direction and purpose. All the spiritual debt that burdened your life was carried with Him on the cross and you were freed to enjoy God and to serve Him for the rest of eternity. You know that no matter what life brings to you, you will not be separated from the love of Christ. No trial and grief you might ever suffer could be so intense that God’s love for you is not even more unchanging and strong. Now you have been given this opportunity to work out His will in your life by conforming you to His image. “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose” (Philippians 2:13). With your relationship with God His light is within you. Christians are called to dissipate darkness. “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light...and find out what pleases the Lord” (Ephesians 5:8, 10). The light of Christ ought to shine so brightly through you and as the Psalmist declared, to “show forth Your praise to all generations” (Psalm 79:13). Through you and your life in Christ, the goodness of God will be reflected. “Be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” (Colossians 3:15-17). Are you part of the family of God? If so find an opportunity to be with the people of God coming together to offer praises to Him “for His love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” (Psalm 100:5).

Blessings.
