His mercies are new every morning
The thought of my suffering and homelessness is bitter beyond words. I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!” Lamentations 3:19-24
The prophet Jeremiah wrote the Book of Lamentations. From the text, the people of Israel have experienced tremendous trials that they felt that they have hit the bottom. During this moment of desperation that they realized that God is faithful. They knew that God is with them even in these times of trials. What kept them hoping is the covenant love of God that never ends. By their relationship with God, He established a covenant that He will keep. Their attitude of hope and trust should also dominate the lives of every believer. If you have a personal relationship with God, you can be rest assured that He is faithful. You can count on His mercies that are new every morning. “The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him” (Lamentations 3:25). The faithfulness of God is a great source of encouragement in these days when people’s hearts are failing them because of fear and instability. If you build your life on the things of this world and will count on people’s promises you will have no hope or security. But if you build it on Christ, the Faithful One, you will be safe forever. He promised to be faithful to finish the good work that He has started in you (Philippians 1:6; 2:13). He is faithful that He will not hesitate to discipline so you will return to Him (Psalm 119:75; Hebrews 12:5-11). He will resort to discipline to bring you to the place of repentance and confession (Lamentations 3:39-41). He is faithful to forgive when you confess your sins (1 John 1:9). He is faithful to sympathize when you have burdens and problems (Hebrews 2:17-18; 4:14-16). You will never need to fear that He is too busy to listen or too tired to help. He is faithful to provide a way out when you cry out for help in a time of temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13). He is faithful to keep you strong in this life and unto life eternal (1Timothy 1:15; 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24). Commit your life into the hands of the faithful Creator (1 Peter 4:19) and know that He will always be faithful. Do not let the bottom fall out before you realize that God is faithful. Since His mercies are new every morning, make it a habit to be grateful and your praise of Him new as well.
Blessings,
