Undeniable faith in Christ
So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows. “Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven. Matthew 10:31-33
There are people that responded to Jesus by surrendering their lives to Him. They have placed their faith in the saving knowledge that Christ is the only One that could save them from the punishment of sin. Yet there are instances that there are those that continue to reject Him. Mark Chapter 5 provided an example of how people rejected Christ inspite of the claim that He is the Christ, He is the Savior. In this chapter, the Lord Jesus Christ cast out the demons from a man who lived among the tombs. After the demons left the man, these evil spirits begged Jesus to let them go and enter the herd of pigs. In verse 13, “So Jesus gave them permission. The evil spirits came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the entire herd of about 2,000 pigs plunged down the steep hillside into the lake and drowned in the water.” When the people in the town heard what happened they went to see if what they heard was true. As they gathered they saw the man healed and was in his right mind. Instead of rejoicing that the man was saved and was healed, the crowd began “pleading with Jesus to go away and leave them alone.” (Mark 5:17). The reaction of the crowd also sums up the response of the majority of people when confronted about the truth regarding Jesus. He challenged those that witnessed His power to believe Him instead of rejecting Him. Yet they accused Him of having power over evil spirits as coming from Satan (Luke 11:18). However, instead of defending Himself and say that His power is not from Satan, He told them that His coming is the ushering of the Kingdom of God. ”But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you” (Luke 11:20). There is no neutrality when someone is confronted about the truth of who Jesus is. It’s either we accept His claim or reject it. It is either you are saying, “Jesus, I need you in my life” or you are saying, “Jesus, go away, I don’t need you in my life.” He calls on the ones that placed their faith in Him to stand up and be proud of the decision to make Him Lord and Savior. Your life is secured because you have trusted Him as the Lord of your life and He is much stronger than Satan. “When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe” (Luke 11:21). Jesus then told the crowd, “He who is not with Me is against Me” (Luke 11:23). Have you confessed Jesus as your Lord and Savior? If you believe Him as your Lord and Savior, then do not be ashamed of your relationship with Him. “Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven” (Matthew 10:32-33).
