God’s armor that counters enemy’s attack
Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:14-17
God did not call us to a relationship with Him just to struggle blindly in our Christian life and just hope for the best. From the text, the Apostle Paul provided us a picture of how we are to stand firm against the attack of Satan. God gave us the tools that we need so we can stand our ground as we fight the enemy. The image of a soldier was provided to us to convey a message that we can be determined and come out victorious as we face Satan’s deceptions. The belt of truth represents the Bible. We have to accept God’s word and let the truth of His word provide us wisdom. The breastplate of righteousness is our commitment to not continue to harbor and live in sin instead pursue to live life of righteousness. Our feet fitted with shoes signify our readiness to receive His promises found in His word for they provide peace in our lives. The shield of faith will help us deflect Satan’s darts. Having faith in God is to realize that the life He gives us cannot be compared to a life of temptations that Satan offers. We have the helmet of salvation to protect our minds. Satan’s tactic is to tempt you to doubt your relationship with God after you have surrendered your life to Him. The mighty sword of the Spirit completes the armor of God to guarantee that you would be able to stand up against the wiles of the devil. Having the armor of God will assure us that nothing could penetrate that defense. The wiles of the devil come to us in different forms such as temptations, uncertainties, or apprehensions. The Devil’s warriors bombard the believers using these tactics of deceptions silently and quickly towards us in the anticipation of finding a weak spot. Yet, our heavenly Father promises His presence and has provided all that we need to live so we can be victorious. He began doing this, first by securing us the victory through Jesus Christ whom we received as Lord and Savior. Through His death on the cross, He made unenforceable the power of sin over us. Then He gave us an armor to wear. What He wants from us is to walk by faith, believing and trusting God moment by moment. Always remember that your faith becomes your shield against the darts of the devil. Let us grow in our faith by continually expressing our dependence on God and His working in our life.
