Secured in God's hand

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.” Once again the people picked up stones to kill him. Jesus said, “At my Father’s direction I have done many good works. For which one are you going to stone me?” They replied, “We’re stoning you not for any good work, but for blasphemy! You, a mere man, claim to be God.” John 10:27-33

One becomes a follower of Christ by placing faith in Him alone for salvation. The Holy Spirit places upon the hearts of those that trusted Christ the desire to listen to His voice. And as the Lord Jesus Christ said from the passage, they listen to His voice and He knows them. They are identified with Him and they follow Him. The Omnipotent Father knows them and gave them eternal life. He promised them that they will never perish. There is nothing that God promised that is temporary. The eternal life that He gives lasts for eternity. The enemy, Satan, is no match with God for “no one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.” When we know that God holds our lives in His hand we are secured in Him. God looks at us as precious to Him that He wants us to know that He cares for us and that He will not let us go. This is why it is always important to be reminded of what we have when we know we are in Christ. There are certain things in this world that you can easily get along without. But you cannot get by in this life and the life to come without Christ. Without God there is no hope. “You lived in this world without God and without hope” (Ephesians 2:12). And without God, life has no direction. All your pursuits in this world have no purpose without God guiding and leading your life. “I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). Once you claim you belong to the True Shepherd, you will listen and will follow Him. To know that you are secured in Christ provides freedom to do what He called you to do and live for His glory. “For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory” (Colossians 3:3-4).
