Boosting our faith
The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. Isaiah 40:28-30 NLT
Paul says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” God wants to boost our faith so that His power will be manifested in our weakness. This is what Isaiah was admonishing the Israelites will do as they face difficulties in life. God is speaking to people who are weak, weary, and discouraged. Their being weak, weary and discouraged was manifested in their complaint to the Lord. They were accusing God of ignoring them while they were in their troubles (Isaiah 40:27). In their inconsistent faith, they failed to experience the power of God. Just like us, God wants us to live with confidence in a big God where we can see a bright future for we know that He will keep His promises. We know the reason for living and such knowledge produces resilience. We can experience an ongoing renewal within because of our faith in God. No matter how strong we fill, our abilities and human strength will be no match against the demands of life. “Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted (Isaiah 40:30). When we feel we do not have the strength to continue on that is the time that we need to come and acknowledge before God our helplessness. God wants to assure us that He is here to help us. His desire is that His life will flow through us by renewing our lives daily. “Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day” (2 Corinthians 4:16).The key is to learn how to come to Him and ask Him to help us overcome our doubts. This is difficult because of the pressures that we are dealing with. We tend to rush through everything without asking God’s leading and wisdom. There are times that God slows us down so we could listen to Him. There is power beyond us and God wants us to experience it.
