A better plan

Open up, O heavens, and pour out your righteousness. Let the earth open wide so salvation and righteousness can sprout up together. I, the Lord, created them. “What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, ‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ Does the pot exclaim, ‘How clumsy can you be?’ How terrible it would be if a newborn baby said to its father, Why was I born?’ or if it said to its mother, ‘Why did you make me this way?’” Isaiah 45:8-10 NLT

From the text, Isaiah provided the readers a picture of what God does in the life of those who finds salvation in God. By God’s sovereign grace, He pours out righteousness that brings life to what seemed to be dead and lifeless. What prevents us from experiencing God’s refreshing life is our rebellion and stubbornness. In our pride, we insist that we are better than our Creator. “Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, ‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!” (Isaiah 45:9b). We should recognize that He wants to be our Savior. He is not a puppet or someone that we can just box in and when the time comes that we need Him because of the problem we are facing, that’s the only time we ask Him to come out so He can help us. The Israelites under the Babylonians were blaming God for allowing them to be taken captives. They used to have good life under King Solomon, enjoying peace and prosperity. But all the good things that were happening to them went way passed their heads that they thought they were the ones in control. Placing one’s faith and trust in God is not easy especially when things are not working well in our lives. It is difficult to accept the troubles we are facing and what God is doing in the midst of them. But we have to come to terms that when we believe that God is sovereign, we have to come to Him and accept the fact that there will be times of uncertainties. When those moments come, let Him be the God of your life and realize that He has a better plan for you.

Blessings,
