The superiority of God

To whom will you compare me? Who is my equal? Some people pour out their silver and gold and hire a craftsman to make a god from it. Then they bow down and worship it! They carry it around on their shoulders, and when they set it down, it stays there. It can’t even move! And when someone prays to it, there is no answer. It can’t rescue anyone from trouble. “Do not forget this! Keep it in mind! Remember this, you guilty ones. Remember the things I have done in the past. For I alone am God! I am God, and there is none like me. Only I can tell you the future before it even happens...“Listen to me, you stubborn people who are so far from doing right. For I am ready to set things right, not in the distant future, but right now! I am ready to save Jerusalem and show my glory to Israel. Isaiah 46:5-13 NLT

Before we make a choice, we study and compare. We want to make a wise decision. This is all the more important if it pertains to our spiritual destiny. Isaiah’s contention from the text is that when you discover the God revealed from His word, you should stop your search for He is the one you need. We need to think hard and pray about this for this will determine our eternity. And when our hearts do find that God is what we really long for, let us forsake all other gods and offer to Him our true worship that should never end throughout time and eternity. He is Sovereign and is the One who determines all things (Isaiah 46:8–11). In His patience and love in spite of our stubbornness, He bears us and remains faithful. We enjoy obtaining His blessings and we like His promises but we continue to resist His ways. Though the world might seemed to be out of control and the events are disappointing for there is so much destruction, God’s plan will still stand and His good purposes will be fulfilled. The Lord, and no other, can clearly outline the course of events from beginning to end. Let us trust Him and believe that His ways are meant to free us so we could be the person He wants us to be. Accept God on His terms for He alone is God and in Him is life eternal. “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him” (John 3:36).

Blessings,
