Security is in living the life God provides

Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 5:8-10 NLT

The Lord Jesus Christ’s status of a High Priest is the highest form for it is in the order of Melchizedek. This order of priesthood has no hereditary succession unlike the Aaronic order. Despite the position that Jesus had, He had shown how He fully identified with what every human being goes through in life. Because of His identification with what we go through in life, we should never doubt that He sympathizes with us when we are facing hardships. All His life, He demonstrated what obedience to the Father’s will looks like. Jesus came committed in obeying the Father. This attitude provides for us an example to follow. It also gives us motivation to live our lives facing difficulties with courage and perseverance. Learning and understanding how Christ lived His life while here on earth will equip us to be prepared in whatever challenges we will be dealing with in life. We grow in obedience to God through sufferings. It is by Jesus’ obedience to the cross that He obtained for us the salvation that we need. He died a kind of death that no one else had gone through for He was innocent yet made sin for us. “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21). Because of God’s perfect sacrifice, “he became the source of eternal salvation.” The salvation that God provides is only available to those who had placed their faith in Jesus. The relationship of every believer with Jesus is further demonstrated by their willingness to remain committed in obeying His will for their lives. God’s gift of salvation is made available to all. But once we received God’s gift of salvation, obedience to His will becomes our way of living. We will no longer find security in living again in our old ways.

Blessings,
