In His hands

What do people really get for all their hard work? I have seen the burden God has placed on us all. Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:9-11

It is human nature to be in control of the events in their lives. Yet, they find it difficult to judge the events and respond accordingly. From the text, it is God alone who could see from the beginning to the end. Though God had placed eternity in man’s heart, individual person still has no control as to the outcome of his or her own life events. Jesus expressed His dismay to people in His time how they responded to God’s revelation with skepticism and unbelief. He described their response in Matthew 11 where they see John the Baptist as a demon-possessed man rather than a prophet. They saw Jesus as an overeater, a drunkard, and a friend of tax collectors and sinners. In their unbelief, they did not see Him as the one who has come to save them from their sins. God manifested to them who He is and even provided miracles so they could identify Him as the Messiah and yet they were blinded with their own wickedness. “For if the miracles I did in you had been done in wicked Tyre and Sidon, their people would have repented of their sins long ago” (v. 21). This is why Jesus declared that those who will not respond to Him will be judged. “For if the miracles I did in you had been done in wicked Tyre and Sidon, their people would have repented of their sins long ago” (v. 23). But those who will respond by faith and trust will receive the promise of rest. “Take my yoke on you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matthew 11:29). This is also the admonition Christ has for you. You have to respond in faith and rely that He alone can judge the events of your life. Will you respond by trusting Him?

Blessings.
