He lifts you up when you fall
He lifts you up when you fall
One day as Jesus was preaching on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, great crowds pressed in on him to listen to the word of God. He noticed two empty boats at the water’s edge, for the fishermen had left them and were washing their nets. Stepping into one of the boats, Jesus asked Simon, its owner, to push it out into the water. So he sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.” “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! Luke 5:1-6 From the text, the Apostle Peter and the rest of the disciples came back from a night of fishing without success. Not even a measly catch! There was nothing. They were skilled fishermen, yet Jesus told them to go back and once again throw the nets into the water. It was a humbling experience wherein the son of a carpenter telling the fishermen how to fish. Without hesitation, Peter obeyed and returned in the deeper part of the sea where they caught a great amount of fish that their nets almost tear. Jesus brought Peter to a point of inadequacy and once again proved to him and the rest of the disciples that Jesus could be trusted. He alone is the One that can help you in times of failure. He does this by bringing you in the place of your downfall and lifts you up so you could begin with something new relying upon His strength. Peter and the disciples has to learn from this experience for God will call them to become fishers of men (see Luke 5:10). Probably you have been where Peter was where you relied on your knowledge and strength then to come out empty. God does not want you to abandon where you fall instead He wants you to learn from your failure and trust that He will direct you. It is during times of failure that God gets your undivided attention. From that point of failure, He wants you to listen to Him and trust that God will use the opportunity to bring about a revelation of who He is in your life. Don’t give up when you fall instead allow Him to lift you up.
Blessings.
