The Foreknowledge of God

For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Psalm 139:13-17 God has a magnificent design for your life. From the text, even before you were born, God has known about you and had a wonderful plan for your life. He knew everything about you. “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart” (Jeremiah 1:5). The testings and trials in life are there for God predetermined that you would “conform to the image of His Son” (Romans 8:29). So everything that is happening in your life is not an accident. Christ provided a model for you to follow upon which the Father is developing your life. Jesus walked and lived His life closely linked to the Father so He would be able to do the Father’s will for His life. God wants you to have a personal relationship with Jesus that is characterized by intimacy with Him. Jesus even prayed to the Father that He would be able to reflect the relationship He has with the Father and that as the disciples see this, they will follow and do the same with God. “O righteous Father, the world doesn't know you, but I do; and these disciples know you sent me. I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them” (John 17:25-26). Everything that happens to your life is meant to be used by God so you could be more like Christ. His call was not just to save you in the coming destruction but He wants you to join Him in the process of becoming like Him. His call was very personal that you alone could provide the proper response. Respond to His invitation not only for the forgiveness of your sin that leads to salvation but live out the relationship you have with Him by working out His will for your life that results to conforming you to His image. “Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him” (Philippians 2:12-13).

Blessings,
