The light and life in you

Jesus said: I tell you for certain that I am the gate for the sheep. Everyone who came before me was a thief or a robber, and the sheep did not listen to any of them. I am the gate. All who come in through me will be saved. Through me they will come and go and find pasture. A thief comes only to rob, kill, and destroy. I came so that everyone would have life, and have it in its fullest. John 10:7-10

Jesus came to this world so that He could provide the light that people needed in their lives. There is so much darkness that exist because of sin that in Him alone being the light could displace such darkness with light. “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men” (John 1:4) It was through the acknowledgement that He is the only way to salvation that one will experience real life. From the text, Jesus declared that he alone is the gate and that anyone who comes through Him will be saved (John 10:8). In Him was life and life abundant. Those that formerly lived in darkness and trusted Christ as Lord and Savior, the light of Christ is within them. If you are a Christian, you are called to shine the light of Christ so you could dispel the darkness. “Don’t take part in doing those worthless things that are done in the dark. Instead, show how wrong they are” (Ephesians 5:11). You have the life of Christ within you and you are called to let that life minister His love through you. Realize that there is so much in you being a child of God that He wants you to be an encouragement to those hurting around you. Let your life be the reflection of Christ that when people encounter you, they will praise the Father who is in heaven. You might not have all the answers that people are seeking in this life, but you have trusted the One who knows everything. Consider it as a privilege because God gave you the opportunity to express and show the Source of light you have to the people around you. “Christ lives in you, and he is your hope of sharing in God’s glory” (Colossians 1:27).
