Back to the fold
"When he finally came to His senses, he said to himself, ' at home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! I will go home and say to my father, "Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant."' So he returned home to His father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to His son, embraced him, and kissed him." Luke 15:17-20 In spite of the decision you made to accept Christ as your Lord and Savior, there is still a tendency to rebel against God's leading. In a way, you become like the Prodigal son. The parable was told by Jesus to His disciples. Once you become a child of God, He will not let you go astray. He will place hindrances so you will return to the path He had set before you. His desire is to always bring you back to His fold where He knows you belong and where you can be secured. Unfortunately there will be those that would prefer worldly living rather than the life that God offers. The tendency is to find excuses and rationalize rebellion before God. Don't forget that you will be accountable for the actions you take and be prepared to face the consequences to such actions. When you sensed that God is drawing you back to Him, do not ignore His prompting. The prodigal son realized that pursuit of worldly things will not bring about real joy and satisfaction. This is why he decided to return to his Father. He repented of his sin and expressed his readiness to face the consequence of his actions. Doing something outside the will of God is detrimental to your spiritual life. No matter how appealing the offer of the world is, don't settle for less. Doing something outside of His will not bring you the satisfaction you are searching. It is only by coming to God that you can experience what the world could not provide.
