Trusting God’s “I AM”

But Moses protested to God, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?” God answered, “I will be with you. And this is your sign that I am the one who has sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God at this very mountain.” But Moses protested, “If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ they will ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what should I tell them?” God replied to Moses, “I am who I am. Say this to the people of Israel: I am has sent me to you.” Exodus 3:11-14

God called Moses to be His spokesman to the Israelites. God led him to experience His presence through a burning bush. Moses was very impressed to what God did. “This is amazing,” Moses said to himself. “Why isn’t that bush burning up? I must go see it” (Exodus 3:3). In spite of this amazing manifestation of God’s power, he realized how difficult his task was when God told him to go to the Israelites who were under the Egyptian bondage. He thought that when he stands before them and expresses to them God’s plan of freeing them, he will be asked how they will know that it was God doing it. He will be also asked what proof does he has that will convinced them that God really could do what he said he will do. Moses was baffled by these possibilities that he went back to God and asked Him if it was really possible for the Israelites to escape. God’s answer to Moses was “I AM.” He is telling Moses that the possibility of their escape from Egypt is through the mighty power of God. It will be through God’s actions that they would be able to cross the Red Sea. It will be through His providence that their need of food and water will be supplied while in the wilderness. It will be through His constant presence that they will experience guidance. It will be His daily deliverance that will help them alleviate their fear. When Moses began his walk with the Lord, He had no clue on the capabilities and power of God. Yet every time that he will be confronted with his needs, God was always there to meet them. God did not want him to be contented to experience just the burning bush because even in their escape from Egypt, God revealed Himself continually manifesting His character and attributes. Where are you right now in your walk with God? Have you grown in your knowledge of who He is? In your encounter of circumstances, have you sensed God’s different ways of revealing Himself to you as He provides you help so you could be victorious? When God says to you”I AM,” trust Him for He will pull through to His commitment to you for He has a relationship with you.
