Got saved!
So I am eager to come to you in Rome, too, to preach the Good News. For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life. Romans 1:15-17
God convicts each one to realize their need of Him in their life. It is by faith in Christ alone that one could be saved. From the text, the apostle Paul expressed his obligation to share the Good News of salvation to others. He challenged the believers in Rome to have the same passion as his. It is by the grace of God that every believer would be able to share the gospel. “With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all” (Acts 4:33). When God saved you, He provided you spiritual gift so you could minister His grace to others. “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms” (1 Peter 4:10). Like the disciples in the early church as told in the New Testament, God wants to use you so He could show to others His saving grace. It is not by your abilities and your merits that others get saved but by “His incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength” working in you (Ephesians 1:19). This is why Paul was not ashamed about the gospel. He knew that it is only by the gospel that people will be saved. It is by placing one’s faith in Christ alone that real change could take place. When Jesus was talking to the crowd regarding the culmination of age where those who believed and placed their trust are gathered with Him, there are those that did not understand. Then He told them the reason why; “Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God” (Matthew 22:39). God’s power is unleashed when one understands the gospel. “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18). The disciples were very grateful that God saved them through the gospel this is why they were not ashamed to tell others about the Good News of salvation. “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!” (Romans 10:13-15).
Blessings.
