At the center of God’s will
And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Luke 12:29-32
In these times of widespread materialism that causes people to become uncertain about their financial situation, it will be good to reflect on the Word of God. From the text, Jesus was telling His disciples to set out their priorities in life. He commanded them to be focused on His Kingdom which was spiritual in nature over the temporal things which the world pursues. When this becomes their priority, they can be rest assured that He will be there to meet their needs. God owns everything in this world and He is the One who created everything. As a child of God, because of your decision to surrender your life to Him, you are under His care. As Jesus said, “your Father knows” what you need. He loves you and has your best interests in His heart. His assurance is to “not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32). God is calling His followers to make a deliberate action. They are not just to simply avoid getting fixated on the things of the world but has to make a drastic decision to pursue His kingdom. You are to be about His business, which means His priorities become your priorities. Once you strive to know Him through His word, you will notice that your actions and desires are starting to reflect what He wants to accomplish in your life. Then you will realize what a great privilege you have to be a part of His Kingdom. When your heart is focused on Him, it will show in your actions and what you pursue in life. “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Luke 12:34). The fruit of your submission to God will last for eternity. “Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys” (Luke 12:33). When you know you are in the center of His will, fear not!
Blessings.
