In the potter's hand

The Lord gave another message to Jeremiah. He said, “Go down to the potter’s shop, and I will speak to you there.” So I did as he told me and found the potter working at his wheel. But the jar he was making did not turn out as he had hoped, so he crushed it into a lump of clay again and started over. Then the Lord gave me this message: “O Israel, can I not do to you as this potter has done to his clay? As the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand. Jeremiah 18:1-6

Growing in godliness is a lifelong process. It takes commitment, discipline, and patience in order for a child of God to realize God’s plan for their lives. This is what God wanted to convey to Jeremiah. God told him to go to the potter’s house and He wanted him to observe what the potter was doing. Jeremiah saw how the potter worked meticulously on clay placed on a wheel so he could turn it into a vessel. When the potter saw a flaw in the vessel, he mashed it again into a lump of clay and start once again so he could fashion it into a vessel into his liking. By observing what the potter was doing, Jeremiah realized God’s message. God in His Sovereignty will fashion His children as He wills so that they could be His vessels of His blessings. Although there are times that God’s dealings with His children seemed to be difficult and perplexing, one thing is for sure they will come out as His masterpiece. God wants you to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. The sad truth is that there are those that seemed to be not growing further in their Christian life in spite of their claim that they had been Christians for quite a while. If you will not allow the Lord to mold you to the life He wants you to have, you will not realize the greatness of His plan for you. He has a master plan for your life ever since you breathe your first breath on this earth. “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” (Ephesians 2:10). Let Him work His will for your life. Spend time with the One who created you. Choose to let His hand walk you in the direction He wants you to take. Ask Him to help you always choose to let Him shape your life so he could fashion you to His likeness.

Blessings.
