The joy of following God

A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart. To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. Haughty eyes and a proud heart—the unplowed field of the wicked—produce sin. Proverbs 21:2-4 There are times that there are those that would prefer to offer to do things for God even without the sincerity of their heart. Others will try to do things wholeheartedly but are not guided by His word. God’s people will act based on the guidance of His word moved by a sincere heart. In this way you are prevented to pursue goals and objectives that will deter you from following the will of God for your life. You might be thinking that you are pursuing what seemed to be noble and good, yet still missed out on what really matters to God. The child of God whose goal is to honor and please God will seek out directions from His word. They arrange their lives based on the revelation from the Scripture. Even if at times, God’s leading seemed to be out of their own personal preference, all that matters is that what they are about to do is guided by His word and affirmed by the leading of the Holy Spirit. God already knows what’s best for you, for your family, your work, and every area of your life. Once you disregard His plans for your life and pursue your own agenda, you will find that you are beating in the wind and seemed to be getting nowhere. You think you could be wise pursuing your own personal desires even without the guidance of God. “Do you see a person wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for them” (Proverbs 26:12). The only way you will discover His will for you is to allow Him to reveal it to you. Once you discover His will for your life, the only option a child of God has is to obey. “When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful” (Proverbs 29:18)
