Faith means, God is my life
For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!” But not everyone welcomes the Good News, for Isaiah the prophet said, “Lord, who has believed our message?” So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. But I ask, have the people of Israel actually heard the message? Yes, they have: “The message has gone throughout the earth, and the words to all the world.” Romans 10:13-18
Without a doubt, faith is important in knowing and understanding how God deals with each one. It is by grace through faith that one knows and receives salvation from God. “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him” (Hebrews 11:6). If faith is very crucial and requisite in knowing God, then how one can obtain the faith that pleases God? From the text, the apostle Paul said, “...faith comes from hearing that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.” It is by believing God as revealed in His word that one can establish a relationship with Him. You call on God because you believe Him. You heard about God because someone took the time to tell you about Him and His Good News. Faith is not just an intellectual assent. It involves a decision that was based on how you believe God in your heart and with the conviction given to you by the Holy Spirit, you make the declaration. “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved” (Romans 10:9-10). Once you grow in understanding what faith in God is all about, faith becomes your way of life. This is important because there will be times that the events happening in your life do not make sense. The direction God is taking you is somewhat unclear. Yet you know that God is calling you to follow and believe Him. Faith is not based on common sense it is leaning and trusting the One who knows everything and who holds everything in control. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
