When facing the adversary, the devil

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are. In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. 1 Peter 5:8-10

Have you thought if you are living the life in a way that pleases and glorifies God? From the text, the Apostle Peter writing to Christians in Asia Minor reminded them that God called them “to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus.” There is always a great temptation not to live according to what God had planned out for your life. Disobedience to God is sin! Peter wanted Christians to always be aware of Satan’s tactics and to remain strong in their faith. People around you might convince you to minimize sin and try to tell you that sin is not a big deal. You might be tempted to accept the excuse, “Everybody does it.” The Bible will not look at sin as a small thing that God easily dismisses. In fact, it took the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ be shed at the cross to forgive sin. It was the precious and priceless blood of Christ that was spilled to remove the penalty of sin. “For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God” (1 Peter 1:18-19). Do not take for granted the life you received from Christ when you surrendered your life to Him. Do not let Satan find a way to trick you or to try to convince yourself that he does not exist. “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12). Peter described Satan as “roaring lion.” His description illustrated the fierceness of Satan that his goal is to have you ignore God and become disobedient to His will. Satan is cunning in his ways that patiently waits for you to give in to his ways. Remain prayerful and ask God to give you wisdom so you could discern God’s will. Regularly read God’s word and fellowship with believers that are strong in their faith and learn from them so you too could stand your ground in times of testing. “Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:17-18).

Blessings,
