Salvation here and now and for eternity
Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Philippians 2:12b-13
Salvation is a gift from God. There is nothing that you could do to save yourself or to earn it. “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it” (Ephesians 2:8-9). Once you have salvation, you must start to claim all that became yours. From the text, the apostle Paul is urging Christians to work out their salvation. Salvation is not just a single event but also a process. Because of your salvation, God forgave you from your sin. Now you can enjoy victory over sin. But this victory also applies to the future sin that you will ever commit. When you became a Christian, He made you a new creation. “Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17) This means that everyday you live your life for Him anticipate that new things and new adventures in your Christian walk awaits you. He wants you to fill your life with His presence through the Holy Spirit so that the fruit of the Spirit will be manifested through you regularly. When you first accepted Him as your Lord and Savior, you relinquished your right to your life to Him. Daily you make a choice to yield to His working and to let Him lead you instead of setting your own direction for your life. God already provided everything you need so you could live your life worthy of His Name. “By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence” (2 Peter 1:3). You have to make a choice regularly that you will appropriate the divine resources for you to use so you could glorify Him. It is true that God alone can implement a lasting change in your life but you must let Him do so. When you sense that God is developing His character in you, let Him so that the salvation you received from Him will be shown fully.
Blessings.
