My delight is having a right relationship with God

I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. I praise you, O Lord; teach me your decrees. I have recited aloud all the regulations you have given us. I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches. I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways. I will delight in your decrees and not forget your word. Psalms 119:11-16 From the text, the Psalmist finds delight in meditating upon the word of God. He expressed his joy knowing that God gave His word to guide him so he could stay in the path that He set for his life. “I will meditate on your decrees. Your laws please me; they give me wise advice” (Psalm 119:24-25). Nothing can be more important in life than to know that we are living in the center of God’s will. This is why our daily walk with God meditating on His word is very important. This will enable us to experience His will for our lives. Part of walking with God daily is the willingness to obey Him and accept that what He impresses in us through His word is what He wants us to act upon. The Holy Spirit lives in the life of every believer so He could guide us in the ways of God. Even if what seems to be happening in your life does not make sense because it is not the life you prefer, but if you know you are walking closely with God you are exactly where God wants you to be. This is what we read about the experiences of those that faithfully followed God. The disciples simply looked at Jesus and stayed close with Him for they know that He is “the way” (John 14:6). There are instances that we will be tempted to only follow God’s leading if we can see clearly where God is leading us. Or at times we plot out our own road rather than let the Lord Jesus Christ lead us to His way. We tend to forget that God is not after us following a map or a plan. He wants to establish a strong relationship with you. His will might bring you things and circumstances in your life that are contrary to your desires, but once you know where He wants you to be, you will know for He will be right there next to you. “Though the Lord gave you adversity for food and suffering for drink, he will still be with you to teach you. You will see your teacher with your own eyes. Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left” (Isaiah 30:20-21). Delight in the Lord and take the time to learn from Him through His word. In this way, you will grow loving His will for your life.

Blessings,
