Purified like gold

But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold. For I have stayed on God’s paths; I have followed his ways and not turned aside. I have not departed from his commands, but have treasured his words more than daily food. But once he has made his decision, who can change his mind? Whatever he wants to do, he does. So he will do to me whatever he has planned. He controls my destiny. Job 23:10-14

Job from the text was expressing his confidence that God is always aware of the things that is happening in his life. God knows what He is doing and that no matter what trials he will face he will not waver in his faith. This is why he will not lose faith in God and that he will always follow the path He had set for him. When we claim we have faith in God, our faith will always be tested. He is testing our faith so we could find for ourselves how true we are in our commitment to Him. “I will bring that group through the fire and make them pure. I will refine them like silver and purify them like gold. They will call on my name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘These are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God” (Zechariah 13:9). No matter what Job went through in life, he knew that God has a plan for his life and He will accomplish His purposes. With this in mind, all Job could do is trust God and believe that he will come out strong in whatever trial he will face. We should have the same resolve as Job had that in every trial we will face God has a purpose. God want us to come out from these times of trials shining like gold. Not only we prove that value of having faith in God but also we realize the impact our lives could have to others when they see us remaining strong during times of difficulties. And just like Job, remain confident that God’s presence is with us. “He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us” (2 Corinthians 1:4). When we are facing difficult circumstance in life, don’t lose focus on Him and be assured that He is accomplishing something beautiful within our lives. God is in the business of polishing the gem so He could remove the impurities by letting the gem pass through the fire. By holding on to His promises found in His word, we will stay in the course that He had set for our lives.
