Fashioned for His purpose

So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:7-10

When you come to know Christ as your Lord and Savior, He reveals to you His grand design for your life. Even before you were born, God has known about you and had a plan for your life. “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb” (Jeremiah 1:5). As you grow in your relationship with God, His goal for you is to conform to the image of His Son. “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren” (Romans 8:29). This is what God is doing through you so that He could show the world the richness of His grace. This is what the apostle Paul was referring to from our text. Your life, consequently, has a purpose. He is molding you to the life He wants you to have so the world could see what a surrendered life to Christ looks like. So everything that takes place in your life, good or bad, He allows to make you more like Christ. As soon as you have accepted His invitation to His Kingdom, little by little, He lets you understand that He is causing the growth taking place in your life. The Apostle Paul said in Ephesians 3:17, “Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.” God’s call was very personal, designed only for your response. How amazing to realize that at a specific moment in time, the Almighty God spoke personally to you and asked you to become His child! You can only experience the salvation He gives only when you are forgiven of your sin. “You will tell his people how to find salvation through forgiveness of their sins” (Luke 1:77). It is by His grace that you receive forgiveness from your sin and by placing your faith in Him He freed you from the power of sin. He wants you to live according to His purpose and by freeing you from the power of sin you can now serve Him freely. As His child because of your faith in Him, let Him display through your life that you are His workmanship created to do good works. Submit yourself to His working and let His will for your life be your passion so you can conform to His image. “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him” (Philippians 2:13).
