When God blesses

Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? “And don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things. These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom. Luke 12:27-32

Worry occupies too much of our lives; this is what the Lord Jesus Christ told the disciples from the text. He promised that it is for God’s pleasure that He gives to us the kingdom. But what is involved in God’s kingdom? The background of our text is about Jesus' discussions on life’s riches. Jesus talked about a man who planned to build a new big barn that he intended to fill with all his earthly goods. The people’s perception is that life is found in having the riches of the world. But Jesus responded that real life is about having a relationship with God and it will be foolishness in our part if our focus is only in the riches of this world. “Life is not measured by how much you own” (Luke 12:15). Instead He challenged His disciples to have an honest assessment of one’s life and realize that life does not only constitute with the riches of the world. “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God” (Luke 12:21). So He wanted them to take a deeper look at how they live. Everything you do in life requires a decision. Even when you refuse to make a decision, you have decided on what you will or will not do. So when you decide to receive the life in Christ by knowing Him as your Lord and Savior, He promises that you will experience God’s best for your life. Having God’s best does not mean engaging in self-indulgence and greed this is why there are Christians living in spiritual poverty because they have never learned to enjoy the goodness of God’s blessing. God’s blessing does not focus only on financial wealth, though there will be those that God may choose to bless in this area. If you are blessed with material things you don’t have to feel guilty. Instead ask God to help you how He could use you to bless others by caring for their needs. Therefore, when God provides you the blessings He sends your way, ask the Lord to help you properly handle them so that He will be glorified in your life. Every good gifts come from God (see James 1:17). God blesses His children so they can bless others. Trust the Holy Spirit to lead you so you could experience a meaningful life by knowing that having God in life is enough. “I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:12-13).
