Having peace with God
And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:5-8
To experience peace is what most people long for. Because man disobeyed God’s command at the Garden of Eden, this resulted to enmity between man and God. Since then, we are at war with God. This is what the Apostle Paul was telling the people at Rome form our text. God initiated to provide a way for us to reconcile with Him by “sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” All who desire to obtain peace with God has to have a change of heart and mind and accept what God offers by believing the gospel. The war will be ended as soon as we surrender our lives to Him. But the problem is that we would rather find peace by seeking to be accepted by others rather than to reconcile with God first. There are those that convinced themselves that one has to perform well in order for the world to love and accept them. Love as the world perceives it is conditional. If you believe that you have been justified because you have surrendered your life to Christ, then live by that truth. Do not doubt God’s love and stop striving hard to earn His love. The sad thing is that many believers understand this intellectually but have trouble applying this truth in their lives. If you are not completely sold out to the truth that God loves you no matter who you are, this will rob you of the joy He wants you to experience. This will also cause you to be withdrawn and depressed when you are going through trials in life because you feel abandoned by God. Once you recognize the amazing truth of God’s unconditional love and you have trusted Him as Lord and Savior, you will experience peace and this will be life-changing. So consider opening yourself to His love today and experience the joy of knowing Him in your life. Accept God’s declaration that you were given the authority to be called child of God after you have placed your faith in Him and let His peace rule in your heart. “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12).
