Not ashamed

I am writing these things to warn you about those who want to lead you astray. But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ. And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame. 1 John 2:26-28

God wants us to grow in His Word for only in this way we can avoid being led astray by false teachers. The word of God should remain in us for it is sufficient enough to guide us in the truth. We do not need to go somewhere else for when we have the word of God and we are living according to its teachings our faith will be strong enough to fend off false teachings. The Holy Spirit will be there to help us remember God’s word so we could remain strong in our relationship with God. Loyalty to God demands that we take Him at His word as revealed to us through the Holy Spirit. We are to abide in Him and His word as the branch abides to the vine so that fruit becomes possible. “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). The fruit is manifested through our resolve to abide by His will. Our behavior is in harmony with His commands. In this way, we remain in fellowship with Him. Our relationship with God begun when we trusted Him as Lord and Savior and it will last for eternity. Taking part in the body of believers together building up one another and encouraging each other to grow in His word would be valuable to withstand false teaching. Do not allow anything to pull you away from remaining in Christ. Pursue the disciplines that will help you gets drawn closer to God. As we stand firm in our commitment to remain in Him, we will have “full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame.”

Blessings,
