In His image

And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. And we know that God causes everything to work together[m] for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.. Romans 8:27-30 From the text, Paul described how God worked through the life of every believer. In our weakness, the Spirit of God helps us and intercedes for us. There will be times that we will find it difficult to pray and the Spirit of God will work within us so we could offer prayers that will be in line with God’s will. Prayer does not depend on how good we articulate words but on how willing we are to submit to the working of God through the Holy Spirit. This is part of God’s grand design for our lives. God has known about us and had a plan for our lives since before time began. God knew everything about us even before we were born. “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb” (Jeremiah 1:5). God the Creator, the Lord of the universe, has the power and knowledge to work out His will throughout history. Though the creation was marred by sin, God will restore it to its intended purpose. The restoration begins in the lives of those that responded to His call of salvation. It was His plan that we will have a relationship with the Father that is as intimate as the relationship between Jesus and the Father (John 17:21). Every circumstance and event He allows into our lives is designed so we will learn how to conform in the image of Christ. Every encounter and life experiences we will have along the way are designed by God to work for good not because of our ability to manage these experiences but because we rely and trust the greatness and goodness of God. He invites us to join Him in the process. His call is personal, designed for you alone to respond. How wonderful to realize that at a particular moment in history, the Almighty God spoke personally to us and invited us to become His child! Because of our sins, we could never live blameless and attain righteousness. But God offers His forgiveness and by His mercy, will declare us righteous. Do not ignore His offer to you to join Him in working out His will in your life. In this way, He is working out His will for your life so you will conform to His image. “God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him” (Philippians 2:13).
