Riches drawn from God’s righteousness

Riches won’t help on the day of judgment, but right living can save you from death. The godly are directed by honesty; the wicked fall beneath their load of sin. The godliness of good people rescues them; the ambition of treacherous people traps them. When the wicked die, their hopes die with them, for they rely on their own feeble strength. Proverbs 11:4-7 There are many ways to invest our lives, but none offers greater reward than devoting ourselves to the life that God wants us to have. Financial investment has always been risky because of the volatility of economy. But it is not only risky for if we rely only on our riches, it will not matter in the Day of Judgment and the life to come. As stated from the passage, material possession won’t be able to protect us from the thing that will matter most. But the sad truth is that both the rich and the poor made the pursuit of material possession the primary goal in life. “Trust in your money and down you go! But the godly flourish like leaves in spring (Proverbs 11:28). Material possessions can replace the prominence of God in our lives. It becomes a false God that deceives us to having false assurance. The pursuit of godly living is what God desires for His children. It is having every area of our lives reflecting the new life that is ours because we have a right relationship with God. This is manifested by having our thoughts surrendered to God. Our actions led by His Spirit demonstrate that we love and serve God. Do not take God’s righteousness given to you because of your relationship with Him be taken for granted. Remember that God gave you His righteousness when you have accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior. “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect” (1 Peter 1:18-19). The cross of Christ demonstrated the futility of disobedience. It will be unprofitable to have your hope placed in your riches for as soon as you die your hope dies with you. Instead, He wants us to sow life of righteousness for it demonstrates the reality of our faith in God. Let the life that God had sown in us blossom for by it we have the strength to live for His glory.
