Do not lose heart
Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close. Teach me how to live, O Lord. Lead me along the right path...Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. Psalm 27:10-14 NLT
It is easy to lose heart when things are not working well in life. But if we know that God is with us, then there is no reason to lose heart. God loves us with everlasting love. Others will abandon us but God will always be there for those who placed their trust in Him alone. That is why, we must desire Him with our whole hearts and do not allow sin or other obstacles to keep us from enjoying and experiencing His presence. This is the key to real success in this life and the life to come. Once an athlete loses heart, more likely than not, he or she will lose the game. If a soldier loses heart while in the battlefield, he or she will more likely lose the battle. This is what David resolved in his heart. “Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living” (v. 13). He is confident that he can wait on God to answer his prayers. Waiting on the Lord is difficult and yet that is the key so we can be encouraged and endure the hardships we are facing. Though it is difficult to wait on the Lord, the reward will be satisfying for God will strengthen us. “Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary” (Isaiah 40:31 NASB). Let us pray that we will always believe in God’s goodness while we are here on this earth and not lose heart. Let us learn how to patiently wait on the Lord and have the confidence that while doing so, He will strengthen us.
