In God’s time
What do people really get for all their hard work? I have seen the burden God has placed on us all. Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:9-11 NLT
From the moment we get up each morning to the moment we get to bed each night, we live by the clock. Time does not just instruct us as it should, instead it rules us. This places in us a kind of mindset thinking highly of ourselves than we should for we equate busy lives with meaningful lives. Yet, there should be no correlation between the two. This is what the Preacher from the text was emphasizing. “God has made everything beautiful for its own time.” God’s purpose is seen in the mingling of time with eternity where labors are what “God has placed on us all.” When our minds are set on the things of this world, we are still in the realm of meaninglessness. But in the life of the Christian, these labors have a purpose. There is no time like God’s time. The beauty comes in recognizing and acknowledging the place and purpose of every person, thing, or event in God’s overall plan. This is all we can do. Even though God has given us the ability to investigate and try to make sense of His ways, we cannot measure the mystery of divine providence unless God chooses to reveal it to us. God makes everything happen at its proper time or everything God does He does when the time is right. If we have been walking with God for any period of time, we often wonder when He is going to answer our prayers or allow us to experience His working in difficult situations as we have asked Him to do. Then we realize that God is never too late, never too early, but always on time.
