The unchanging God
Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Isaiah 40:28-29 NLT
At times, our focused is limited in a narrow view of time and event called “right now.” The present moment is all that matters to us. It is the urgency of this moment that crowds our minds. It puts too much pressure and if we are not seeking wisdom, we end up making costly mistakes all because we are caught up with our own inflated sense of emergency and fear. Isaiah, from the text, reminds the Israelites that life hangs on who God is and how they perceive Him matters. He reminded them that God is eternal. He is everlasting and He is not confined with time. Since He is eternal and not bounded with time, He can be equally present to all points of time at once. God always sees ahead of us. If you trust Him, you should not panic if things are not falling together according to your desires and plans. He has a purpose in everything; to work out His own way, at His own time, and without our rushed, worried desperation. Despite man executed the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross, their actions were in accordance with God’s plan. “But God knew what would happen, and his prearranged plan was carried out when Jesus was betrayed. With the help of lawless Gentiles, you nailed him to a cross and killed him” (Acts 2:23). He is the Creator of everything. There is not a single place on this earth unknown to God. Isaiah encouraged the Israelites by reminding them that there is no place on earth that God will not be with them. Anywhere life may take us, whether in a place where we are by ourselves, or in an intensive care unit, God will be there ahead of us. We should rely in His grace and power at all times and everywhere. We easily get tired and we need daily nourishment and rest. We need to recoup our strength and our bodies are wasting away. Yet, God does not need renewal for He never grows tired. Then, Isaiah added, “No one can measure the depths of his understanding.” Life is baffling to us but not with God. Instead of living our lives looking for explanations, there are times that what we need to do is to trust God and His promises. Instead of figuring out God, let us submit to Him by faith. God is always who He says He is, always present, always at work and always wise.
