Let the world worship God
Sing a new song to the Lord! Sing his praises from the ends of the earth! Sing, all you who sail the seas, all you who live in distant coastlands. Join in the chorus, you desert towns; let the villages of Kedar rejoice! Let the people of Sela sing for joy; shout praises from the mountaintops! Let the whole world glorify the Lord; let it sing his praise. Isaiah 42:10-12 NLT
From the text, Isaiah is calling all the people of the whole world to offer their praise to the Servant of the Lord. It was because of the work of grace that unbelief was removed and the heart of darkness was transformed to a heart of gladness. God wants us to be released from the bondage of sin so we can experience real freedom expressed in our true worship. This is why Christian churches conduct public worship services inviting others to join. God through His body of believers is inviting the whole world. God offers a new life to those who will be committed and submitted to Him. The effect of this life is a life of worship singing “a new song...his praises from the ends of the earth” (Isaiah 42:10a). The composition of these believers will be diverse. “Sing, all you who sail the seas, all you who live in distant coastlands” (Isaiah 42:10b). Worshiping God unites believers. Right now, the world is filled with hostility for it is worshiping principalities. “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12). Idol-worship divides but worship of the One true God unites. God wants to put a new song in our hearts. But in order for this to happen, God has to fight a battle against the prince of this world so He can release us from its bondage. He wants us to experience the eternal joy even if it will cost the death of the Servant of the Lord. He is willing to fight for our salvation so we will be with Him to eternity. Those who have received the new life let them “shout praises from the mountaintops! Let the whole world glorify the Lord.”
