The only Savior
Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them. Bring out the people who have eyes but are blind, who have ears but are deaf...But you are my witnesses, O Israel!” says the Lord. “You are my servant. You have been chosen to know me, believe in me, and understand that I alone am God. There is no other God—there never has been, and there never will be. I, yes I, am the Lord, and there is no other Savior. Isaiah 43:7-11 NLT
From the text, Isaiah pointed out that God brought out a people from a life of sin and idolatry so He can display in their lives His glory. Our life’s purpose is to announce and proclaim how good God is to people who deserve the opposite. It’s all about God and His purpose is to bring the glory of His salvation down into our experience. Once this vision gets into our hearts, other things fall away, and we get a grip to what transformation is all about. This is why the claim of Jesus as the only way excludes others that seek out their own glories. And as Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). He is the only way and He wants us to be His witnesses, a living-proof that there is no other way to the Father. He is God and is the all-sufficient Christ. As God said, “There is no other God—there never has been, and there never will be. I, yes I, am the Lord, and there is no other Savior” (Isaiah 43:11). Every idol you worship will demand your loyalty. If your idol is your career and you do not sacrifice your time to that idol, your career will be over. If your idol is materialism and wealth and you do not feed that with your insatiable selfish desires, you will end up poor. If your idol is pleasure and you do not sacrifice to its demands you will find yourself longing. When we defy the desires of our idols and we begin to turn to God, we will not be disappointed. God is good and all the time, God is good! He is the only expression of perfect goodness anyone will ever experience. There is no other Savior. Do you believe that and can you receive His claim? Are you willing to receive and embrace the only Savior?
