Revive us again

Because I love Zion, I will not keep still. Because my heart yearns for Jerusalem, I cannot remain silent. I will not stop praying for her until her righteousness shines like the dawn, and her salvation blazes like a burning torch. The nations will see your righteousness. World leaders will be blinded by your glory. And you will be given a new name by the Lord’s own mouth. The Lord will hold you in his hand for all to see—a splendid crown in the hand of God. Never again will you be called “The Forsaken City” or “The Desolate Land.” Your new name will be “The City of God’s Delight” and “The Bride of God,” for the Lord delights in you and will claim you as his bride. Isaiah 62:1-4 NLT

God’s assurance to His people is this: “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you” (Hebrews 13:15). This is what Isaiah is writing about from the text; God will never fail. God intends to prove through the Lord Jesus Christ how much He loves those that felt they were “Forsaken City” or “The Desolate Land.” Now they will be “The City of God’s Delight” and “The Bride of God.” That is the message of the gospel; God delights in us. The forgiveness that He provides wipes away the past. This is why we cannot take for granted what God had accomplished for us through the death of Christ at the cross. He wants that the life He gave will lead to “righteousness shines like the dawn, and her salvation blazes like a burning torch” (Isaiah 62:1). Isaiah’s heart was gripped with sadness for the people of God in his generation who were found in contempt of God’s command. The message of salvation should have gone out from their lips “blazes like a burning torch.” They were expected to have the righteousness of God displayed where “world leaders will be blinded by your glory” (Isaiah 61:2). There are Christians that have lost their sense of awe of God and the salvation He provides. But God had made an everlasting covenant to His people that despite their flaws, He will still use them to burn the torch of salvation so that others will have the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel. When you are not concerned of having God’s light reflected upon your life something is wrong with your commitment to God. Let God’s revival begins in your heart by praying that there will be an outpouring of the Holy Spirit so we can partner with God in His work renewing the world for His glory.

Blessings,
